Perhaps you find yourself wondering who this sarcastic idiot is, so I’ll kick this blog off to a start with a quick summary.
Who am I?
I am a twenty-mumble American female who plays the World of Warcraft MMORPG. My main is a draenei priestess on the Kirin Tor Roleplaying server. Her name is Vonya. Her Armory Profile is easy enough to find, and you’re free to take a look and heckle me if you feel I’ve misplaced points or made silly armor decisions.
I’m just as free to ignore you, of course, so don’t get too excited.
If you decide to send me a whisper, you aren’t likely to get a response. Partly because I dislike random whispers from people I don’t know, but mostly because I find the job of a priest to be time- and attention-consuming.
My tanks don’t particularly react well to an excuse of “Sorry, was answering a tell!” when I’m scraping the leftover bits of their corpse into a dustpan so I can resurrect them.
Don’t take it personally if I don’t respond to you.
Also, I’m well aware of the /ignore in-game function and won’t hesitate to use it if I find myself bombarded and flamed by an offended internet troll.
If you’d like to argue with me, this blog is the best way to do it. At least then I can share some of the more amusing arguments with the public without having to resort to screenshots.
What kind of priest am I?
I’m a holy/disc priest.
Does that mean I want to read your seven page paper on why shadow priests are the best thing since Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches?
Not even remotely.
I’ve played shadow and although the damage was stellar, I prefer to be main healer on instance runs.
Note that I said ‘instance’ - not ‘raid’. There’s an important distinction, but I’ll go into that in a later post.
I heal for my group. Aside from a few bouts of colorful ire (safely sputtered to a deaf computer monitor) they’re happy with my performance and I’m happy with theirs.
Why should you listen to or care about anything I say?
You don’t have to. You can ignore everything I say or might ever say, and I’ll still sleep soundly at night.
I am in no way new to the class. I have rolled at least five priests, - four of them past 50, spending the majority of my time gearing and leveling in instances.
I’ve been told I’m a damn good healer, and that I ought to spread my wisdom, help struggling or fledgling priests learn how to play the class. To help out the newbies, to (theoretically) inspire more people to play this amazing class, and to unfold and assemble my soapbox on a regular basis and snark at strangers.
I’m opinionated, I’m loud, I’m mouthy, and I don’t care if you hate me. I don’t coddle idiots, I don’t tolerate n00bishness, and I will happily ignore anyone that pisses me off.
However, I will help anyone who is genuinely here to learn.
I will try to make my posts interesting and fun to read (though I tend to ramble, and even small posts will likely bulge under the weight of my random chatter).
I will listen to anyone who intelligently puts forth an idea or strives to have civil discourse, even if I disagree with them. I promise to think about what was said to me and genuinely consider it before mouthing off.
I am not afraid to admit when I’m wrong. If I deserve it, I’ll dig into a dish of cold crow or salted hat as if it were the most delicious entrĂ©e ever offered the finest princes of Siam.
Above all, I promise to do my best to help describe the methods and ideas that have made my priesting career a fun and successful one.
This is my blog. It will revolve mostly around the priest class in World of Warcraft, and it aims to shed some light on the shadows that surround this, my favorite class.
