My internet was down for most of yesterday.
To avoid going stir-crazy, I played with the WoW model viewer and made some character portraits.
The first is an older one I did a few months back of Vonya and Whiska, back when Vonya was but a wee babe back on the Draenethyst Isles. Both Vonya and Whiska get roleplayed from time to time, but Whiska’s entire purpose is roleplay. I’ve got a number of stories that have been written about both of them.

The next one is the one I did yesterday, of my huntress, Khuuna (and her two lions, Kirasath and Refir, of course). Before you ask, that’s a wine glass in her hand.
And yes, the odd names for her pets have significance. I grouped with a non-draenei and found out what the in-game draenei words for “Ghost” and “Darkness”. It was “Refir” and “Kirasath”, respectively. So Khuuna’s running around with the two bloodthirsty lions from that movie based on the real-life exploits of two very real lions.
The joke is very very subtle, and nobody in-game is going to get it but me, but I really don’t care. It makes me smile every time I summon them.
Also before you ask, I have the two cats for a reason - I adore both skins and I want a pet for soloing and a pet for instancing, without having to respec every time my intended-for-mat-farming hunter gets called to an instance.

Funnily enough… Lekklana has the same kitties. Though their names aren’t as super nifty (one’s named Ralphie, the other Deimos, after my real cats) though I was probably going to use the third stable spot for one of the Feralas bears, you know the ones that look diseased and decrepit? Yea, that’s my third cat, Cinders. ^.^

Pretty cool… And Ghost and the Darkness is a sweet movie.
Wow Model View solves is pretty awesome in terms what you can do with it.

What beautiful pets. I swear Hunters would appeal to me more if the selection of pets weren’t so … ferocious. My baby Hunter has a Hawkstrider and a Snow Leopard, two of the pets I consider the cutest of what is available. I know, I know … they’re *supposed* to be ferocious, but darn it … I want something I can logically name “Fluffy.” =)

@Stephi
Those are awesome cat names. =]
And ick, diseased bears! *shudder* I’ll probably keep my third slot open unless I can think of a pressing reason to have a third pet.
@Zasp
I love that movie. =]
I wish the model viewer would let me pose the figures, I could make some sweet sigs if I had more control over the models.
@Phaelia
I agree, actually. There are too many “fierce” pets, and not enough that are funny, or fun, or cute. How hilarious would it be if you could have one of those random bunnies as your hunter pet?
The sporebats are kinda cute. And they drip sparklies, which is very nifty. =]

How do you come up with such nice names for your characters.
I spent most of today trying to come up with a name for a new female Draenei Paladin I want to start, but finally gave up on the idea of a new alt because I just couldn’t think of anything.
…
I’m open to suggestions btw ^_^

@Varch
Ah, I’m so glad you commented.
I’m EXACTLY the same way. I spend about an hour at the character creation screen.
It’s so hard to pick a good name! AND as if that weren’t enough, the screen doesn’t show you very detailed facial features. So I’ve logged in, zoomed in, then logged out and recreated the whole process.
I’ve got a set of baby name books - generally I can pick the letter I want the name to start with, and I can sort of go from there. Most of the names are taken, but subtle changes can make a good name perfect. =]
Try some of the baby name generators online.

Haha yea, I hate how your character rarely looks like it did when you were making it.
One of my early characters was a Night Elf Druid and I noticed the lighting in Teldrassil, the starting area, completely changes their skin colour while you’re in the area.
The druid never got past level 13 due to lighting effects…yes i’m that picky with my characters /twitch

@Varch
Yup, I know exactly what you mean. They need a zoom feature in the character creation screen.

So, here’s a noob question: Do you just use the app on http://www.wowmodelviewer.org? I’ve been wanting to get some cool “screen shots” of just my toon for awhile, but never knew how to do it. Thanks in advance.

@Leiandra
I can’t guarantee that’s where I got it from, but I’m definitely using the WoW Model Viewer for my portraits (and for the other images on the site as well).
The only caveat I’ve found is that the game doesn’t like it when Model Viewer is used the same time it’s up. I crashed my computer a bunch before I found out about that.
So game OR model viewer. Not both at the same time. =]
