The Egotistical Priest

An irreverent and opinionated discussion of the many classes
in the World of Warcraft gaming universe.

Kidnapped

by A Rival Village
author is A Rival Village

We have abducted the priestess. (We know we said we wouldn’t do it, but we did, that’s what ninjas do)

If you wish to see her again, you will respond to this post with One Million Gold.

Or 3 things you love about your class.

Either one.

Then maybe we’ll release her, confused and frightened, but unharmed and ready for Thursday’s post.

A Rival Village of Ninjas

P.S. There are at least five ninjas in our avatar picture.

  1. Vendric Says:

Well, failing to help a priest is known to bring bad luck; and no one wants any of that. So lets see…..

    1) The multi-faceted nature of a druid allows for me to try and endless variety of tactics and tricks in almost any situation.

    2) Tranquility: The easy-cheese equivalent to making friends. Use it once at the right time and you will bring your group back from the brink of a wipe. Use it twice and you just made 4 people’s friends list.

    3) Moonkin: Often misunderstood, rarely found, and slightly too plump to ever fly; it is a challenging role that brings the rain and leaves people wondering what color is the sky in your little world.

    4) Cyclone: (With appologies to Zasp), anything that can lock up a rogue is just fun to use.

The ninja’s demanded three to return the priest. The fourth is an offering that they might take a Warlock next time.

    ~Vendric

  2. Sephrenia Says:

    Well – I play a priest and I love…

    1. Keeping people alive instead of killing things.

    2. Prayer of Mending – throwing that frizbee and watching it ping across to others.

    3. The damage I can do now we’ve been un-nerfed if I have to.

    Seph

  3. Zasp Says:

    @Vendric

Oh I love Cyclone, it keeps my Druid alive when he’s healing me and what not. So its hard for me to be mad at it, and sometimes a Cyclone can save my life because a Druid doesn’t realize Mr. Warrior is trying to take my head and remove it. So I def have mixed feelings about it. :D

  4. Gauntlet Says:

As a Paladin Tank, here’s what I love about my class:

We excel at killings lots of guys by having them all attack us simultaneously.
We can heal if we have to.
Our taunt is targeted on an ally: we know what’s more important.

That being said, I’ve also been playing a Priest a lot when grouping with friends:

When I’m around, we can take on more.
Stealing a peek from enemies eyes let’s us find targets very quickly.
    Shadowform looks *awesome*.

  5. Trollin' Says:

    1) I melt faces
    2) I help other people throw flames/skulls/glowy arrows/lightning at things’ faces.
    3) I can heal people, if I really want to and they really deserve it.
4 through infinity) I melt faces.

    =P

  6. Eldr Says:

    Lock: 1) Fear, 2) Felguard, 3) Damage -> healing, 4) Soulshatter, 5) HS crits
Pala: 1) Effortless tanking, 2) AOE farming, 3) useful when not tanking, 4) her pretty hooves
Druid: 1) Lifebloom, 2) Mangle, 3) Bearform for pinch moments, 4) Epic flight form oh-so-soon (L68!), 5) Rebirth
Mage: 1) Free water! 2) Splodey death, 3) Blink, when it works
Hunter: 1) KITTEH! 2) Chain trapping, 3) Feign death
    Shaman: 1) 150 dps at L41, 2) Lazors, 3) Recall, 4) Windfury, 5) Mana from Shamanic Wotchamacallit
    Warrior: 1) Charge, 2) Pummel… mm I’m out.
Rogue: 1) Mindless grinding. Um, I don’t really love her that much

and of course Priest: 1) Pwning with CoH, 2) 100% PoM on an Arca keyrun, 3) Dispel Magic

Melee DPS *really* need a better damage->heal conversion than bloodthirst. Like srsly.

  7. teh Khol Abides Says:

I TOLD you I had nothing to do with it!

Let’s see, I have so many classes…I guess I’ll just do my two mains…

    ROGUE:
    1) Stealth, duh – very few things in life are as much fun as sneaking around the land, making people fear and dread your presence by the ever-so-distinct *vwooom* sound you make…

    2) Insane Single-Target DPS – I LIKE killing things…killing things makes me very, very happy. Killing things quickly makes me even MORE happy. Happy happy kill kill.

    3) Swordchucks, yo – Okay, so they aren’t in the game…YET…but they totally should be.

    WARRIOR:
    1) Armour and Survivability – Such a nice change from being a leather squishy, plus being able to take on multiple mobs and win is awesome.

    2) Fury – Did I mention I really like killing things. Fury warriors aren’t so much warriors as we are lawnmowers.

    3) Prot – I am tank, hear me f@#king roar…or demoralizing shout, as the case may be.

  8. Alex Says:

    Enhancement Shaman:
    1) The raid loves me for Windfury, Unleashed Rage and Strength of Earth
    2) I don’t have to use mana potions even though I’m a mana-user, just because Shamanistic Rage is so awesome
    3) I do pretty damn good DPS while making all those rogues and warriors happy too.

  9. Hildi Says:

um. Rival Village better watch their back. I know “people”. I’m not saying anything. Just…I know people.

so yeah. Um Priest. Healy style.
    1. You don’t do Sunwell without us. Period.
    2. Giggling at the healing meters after an Illidan kill.
    3. Last but not least…Mass Dispelling that silly bubbled Paladin or the Ice Blocked mage.
    4. ok, Bonus: Wearing my 400+ res gear in BG’s and laughing as a whole group gets pwned by my buddies because they couldn’t kill me…the little old clothie priest.

    good times. Good times.

  10. Nina Says:

I play a Hunter. The three things I like best about being a Huntress are:

    1) That little surprised expression on her face when she fires a gun. It’s almost the perfect emoticon. Kind of like, :o
    2) Getting away with naming a diseased black bear “Cuddles.” (Not that I ever have.)
    3) Feign Death. I use it like it’s going out of style.

  11. Feost Says:

    ROGUE

    1) Mobility. I can get anywhere, even — hell, especially — places I shouldn’t be. Stealth. Sprint. Safe fall. Vanish. The bag of tricks is so large and versatile, no quest mob, no HK is out of reach.

    2) Damage. I hit things. Hard. Like dropped inside a stunlock hard. Get in, bring pain, get out – like a ninja.

    3) Cloak of Shadows. Because it makes warlocks angry.

  12. Apoptygmaa Says:

    Holy Priest-

    1. The adrenaline rush of healery. Although specced Shadow almost entirely for levels 1-69, I healed every instance I’ve been in, except once. And while DPS’ing after all that healing had the same rush-release I used to feel when school let out for Summer and I had no obligations, I can’t imagine the game without it.

    2. Instants. I love them. Still being able to heal while a boss knocks me through the air leaves my Shaman mate hideously envious. I recently kited a Warrior and Paladin for well over two minutes in AV (measured by how many times I cast PS), stunned and/or hamstrung constantly, just by walking away slowly, Renewing/Shielding/Frisbee-ing myself all the while. I finally died only when two other Alliance came upon us, but not before a /salute and a /laugh at my tormentors… the little old clothie priest indeed!

    3. Insane MP5. I made it a priority but didn’t deliberately pursue it, but Spirit and my MP5 are outrageous… well, well above the recommended Kara levels, a place I’ve been to but the once.

  13. Siobhann Says:

I’ll contribute to the ransome. I don’t have that much gold so you’re stuck with my 3 reasons.

    Resto druid
    1) Tree form. We’re a little slow, but my mana bar lasts forever. It’s a good thing healing potions don’t go sour while they sit in your bags unused. :-)
    2) Instant-cast heals. Priests have nice instants, but they’re even more powerful and fun on a druid. As Apoptygmaa said above, I can heal myself and the MT even as I’m flying through the air or running out of Doomfire.
    3) HoTs. Fights with silences, stuns, Repentance, or similar mechanics were custom-made for resto druids. If it’s a one-tank fight and the silence is under 5 seconds, I won’t even lose my stack of Lifeblooms.

Now, let ego go or I may have to do something drastic and talk about my lvl 26 warlock!

  14. Athryn Says:

3 Things I love about Paladins:

1: The ability to switch from healing to tanking to (lol) DPS in one class. This gives me more things to do, provided I feel like paying the gold to respec.

2: Having powerful and mana efficient heals. I used to play a holy priest and I hated running out of mana from spamming. Now I can spam heals to my heart’s content!

3: Crusader Aura. I love getting places faster than everyone else!

  15. Rav Says:

    Priest:

    1) Tough Cookie. Yeah, yeah, laugh all you can about it (I know I do :-) ), but being able to survive almost anything is amazing.

    2) Versatility. From healing to DPS, not everything is the same.

    3) Spirit. With all the changes to spirit, it’s great to have stacked it since the early days.

  16. gnomeaggedon Says:

    My Mage:
    1) Fire, fire, fire (actually that could be all 3)
    2) Conjurables: Food/Water, Gems & Evocate
    3) Trasportation: Teleport, Portals, Blink and Feathrefall

  17. Ataris Says:

    Paladin:

    1. AoE tanking + reflective damage = TEH WIN!
    2. Free horse + crusader area.
    3. Coolest amor tiers evah! (Tier 2 and Tier 4).

  18. Woggy Says:

    ~Priest (Holy, T5+ gear)~
    1) Fantastic healing versatility
    2) Actually having to TRY to run OOM (spamming Circle of Healing on Naj’entus is a Very Good Way)
    3) Robes. Yes, they really are that awesome. :)

    ~Druid (Feral, T4+ gear)~
    1) Soloing elites.
    2) Farming ability
    3) Instacast flight form.

  19. Merlot Says:

    Give us back our priestess!

    1) I love the shimmery hiss I make when I drop into shadow form

    2) I love ending a fight with 2 mana and seeing my healers half full

    3) I love shackle. Is this what it feels like to be a mage?

  20. Rakel Says:

Let’s geht Vonya out of this mess!

    *ahem*

    Priest (Holy/Disc):
    - Swiss Army Knife of Healing
    - Always dancing with the 5 second rule
    - Frisbee!!! *sorry* ^^

    Druid (Feral):
    - Tank and DPS in one tree generates unmatched flexibility while providing solid performance
    - Downtime?! What’s that?
    - So much utility, even outside the tank or dps role

    Warrior (Fury):
    - Damage begets Damage
    - umm… I hard ever play my warrior
    - need to say more?

    Hunter (Beast Mastery/Marksmanship):
    - Swiss Army Knife of Damage Dealing
    - Pets!
    - Pretty hooves ;-)

  21. Evea Says:

Oh noesssss, I must have her back what will I do on Thursdays???
    70 Holy Disc Priest,

Holy Nova- By far the most fun talent for Priests. (I run with an AOE Frost Mage most of the time.. Ahh good times.

Shadow Fiend- The wiggly squishy shadowy little creepy thing. OH so much mana….

Renew, Renew, Renew- HoTs for everyone!!!! Woot!!

  22. Wyndorfina Says:

    Poor Vonya!

Three best things about being a priest:

    1) I agree with Merlot, the wonderful “here comes trouble” noise that I make as I go into shadowform is tip top

    2) The warm feeling when I rescue someone in Arathi and keep them alive when they were expecting to bite the bullet – and even get an occasional “Thx 4 the healz”…

    3) Flaying minds, oh yes indeedy.

  23. Vesserion Says:

As a Holy Priest, I love:

    1) Loot Deference – the other squishy types I play with know that the run doesn’t happen without the healz, and show their appreciation by passing on any gear that is an upgrade for me. Now if the stupid bosses would just drop the right loot . . .

    2) Deluxe Healing Toolbox – it may not have the best tool for every situation, but its got a tool for every situation. Big healz, little healz, quick healz, healz over time, healz me and you, healz em all, healz them over there, frisbee healz . . .

    3) Overzealous Meat Shields – Can life as a squishy get any better than when you have a tank ready, willing and able to lay the smack down on any mob that has the audacity to merely look in your general direction?

    ~ Vess

  24. Third Time is a Charm Says:

Where did they take Vonya….? *looks under her sink* Not there…
*looks in closet* Not there… I think she’s the boogeywoman… Seriously.

    Shaman (Enhancement)
-1- Windfury. Windfury Totem. Windfury Lovin’. A hit capped, aggro-pulling, cirt-tastic ability that makes me eat the floor.. COMON! *munches on the moss growing under the tanks boots*
-2- Shamanistic Rage/Water Shield. There is nothing better than being a mana-regen machine with endless DPS. If only we could regen health like that…
-3- Heroism. Period. Hands down my favorite thing about a Shaman. Now, my wittier half is a Mage, when we raided together and were ability to communicate Icy Veins/Heroism… his DPS skyrocketed. And I didn’t die from pulling aggro.
Because I can… -4- REINCARNATION! (Improved, with talents even!) All I need to say.

    Paladin (Holy)
-1- Mana Regen WHILE Healing. What’s better than getting 500-600 Mana back PER Crit? Nothing. Endless Mana. Espicially when you build up Spell Crit to the 25% Unbuffed cap. Give me Wrath of Air and a Boomkin on top of that. That’s toe curling good.
-2- Bubble! You other Paladins just didn’t want to say it… I know. Regardless of it being Bubble Hearth, DI, Bubble to save your own patootie or Blessing of Protection… it’s a bubble and it’s shiney pretty. AoE DPS loves you for it, I know I want to hump the leg of the nearest Paladin when I get it on my Shaman and it’s wipe prevention.
-3- Lay on Hands. I have my OHSHT! moments as a healer, we all do. LoH is the BEST prevention for those… and seriously, I do mean prevention! LoH, pop a mana pot, pop divine favor, pop a ribbon of sacrifice (or other healy trinket) and watch your mana regen on crits while spending minimal amounts to cast. OHSHT just became WTFUPWND.
And because I can again… -4- Judgements of Wisdom and Life. Who says Paladins can’t be Mana Batteries or HoT healers. Pfft.

(Yeah yeah, I found a new love for Paladin healing. Shush. I don’t want to hear about it.)

    Mage (Baby Frost)

My Mage is only level 24… but she’s my baby and my third.
-1- Frost Nova. I can see this coming in handy more and more…
-2- Icy Veins. Mmmm. It’s like Heroism without making you a giant.
-3- Polymorph. I like to run through Elwynn and turn Rabbits into Sheep personally. Or duel my leveling partner and keep him Sheeped till he admits I’m right. That’s fun…

Can we have Vonya back now, plx?

  25. Jaqi Says:

Let’s see…. I have so many characters I could probably singlehandedly pay the ransom for Vonya.

    Warlock, my first love -
    1) I loves me some life tap.
    2) Pro fear yoyoing has saved my groups from wipes on more than one occasion.
    3) There’s a curse for everything!

    Protadin, my second love -
    1) It just doesn’t get any better than soloing 5 mobs or more at once, as many as 20 when I have my boyfriend on his healy priest keeping my health up and my mana recharged.
    2) Not paladin specific, just tank specific, but group leader 99% of the time in instances. Meaning if you’re not competent enough and stand a good chance of causing a wipe, I can give you the boot and not have to explain myself to anybody.
    3) If something comes up, I can just consecrate twice and pop a holy shield before going afk to answer the door or go grab a soda. As long as I remembered to keep righteous fury up, I’ll still have aggro on all mobs when I come back.

    Mage – Arcane
    1) FN + AE spam = awesome.
    2) 4 clearcasting procs in a row… arcane spec is very mana friendly.
    3) Jumping off a cliff and blinking to safety as you’re about to land is just plain badass.

    Healadin
    1) I never have to drink except after overpulls or excessive chain pulls.
    2) I’m the only healer that can wear plate!
    3) If I get bored of healing, I can switch to spell damage gear and still kick a good amount of ass playing as a shockadin without even having to respec.

    Rogue
    1) Considering how reckless I am (even when tanking), stealth and vanish are like my best friends.
    2) There are still mages out there my level I can oneshot with a well-placed ambush.
    3) Ninjaing nodes in AB is ftw.

There’s all my main toons, now give us our priesty back! :D
