The Positive Effect

I think you guys have noticed the Ego crew has kept fairly quiet about all of the massive upcoming changes to the game and everything that Wrath will bring. A little of that tight lipped’ness is due to not wanting to go over something that is so likely to change, while some is not wanting to see massive (possibly heated) debates on what will be good or what will suck.

However, as release time of both the 3.0x patch and the expac itself grows every closer, we’d like to hear what you are excited about. Be it talent changes, new spells, new pets (great and small), new graphics or new storylines, let us know!

Go all out or just write a quip, everyone chime in, I for one am curious as hell. I know what has me excited…whats your game? (c wut I did thar?)

One thing that’s _really_ exciting me and most of my guildies is… 10 man raid progression.

No longer do we have to look forwards to Kara, Kara or Kara.

    Yay!

  2. Ratshag Says:

I’s very happy to see improvements in warrior tanking, fer multiple mobs. Thunderclap is buffed, and the glyph makes it even better. Warbringer, Damage Shield, Shockwave all looks good.

I likes what blacksmiths will be able to create sockets on they’s gear. (Though I is disappointed that there STILL ain’t no flying mount fer BSs. Like an anvil)

And I’s real excited ta be gettin’ a few DKs fer me team.

  3. Eldr Says:

Honestly? Really truly honestly? New five mans. I hate to think how many badges I’ve ground out. Probably thousands.

Achievements will be great fun but I do fear some of my friends will die. No one who collects noncoms deserves to call themselves casual.

I’m kinda excited about hybrids maybe being good at 2-3 instead of 1-2 roles; the imba buffs of ToL form; and a DK alt.

I’m worried generally about balance, including fun balance – some classes seem to have been skipped over for new toys. I have confidence they will fix this given enough time… however…
I’m really worried they’re meeting a business deadline instead of waiting until it’s done.

I’m not entirely looking forward to levelling my 3rd through 9th alts. *yawn*

Still I *am* very excited generally. Blizz have coded an obscenely large heap of content for us and everything I hear leads me to believe it’s generally of extremely high quality. We may have wanted a pony, and no we’re not getting one this year either, we’re not getting a lump of coal either though! It’s so easy to focus on specific areas of discontent.

  4. PriestOfOne Says:

The ability to do a raid with less ppl. Either 5 men or 10 men so you can learn the raid and then have fun in the 25 men chaos.

  5. Chickenwing Says:

New talents, new talents, new talents… coupled with XP boosts for 60 through 70.

This will encourage me to get my alts up to (at least) 70… and if I like what I see with their new talents, perhaps I’ll be re-evaluating my main and “off-main” characters as well! This time around I’ll be focusing on maximizing my fun instead of sticking with my old stand-by(s) because my guild needs them.

  6. John Says:

I just started playing at the beginning of the year, so honestly, I’m barely ready for an expansion.. But, like Ulv – the 10 man raids is what I’m looking forward to the most..

  7. Gauntlet Says:

    1. Death Knights… making them with my friends. I <3 Starting Zones.

    2. More leveling for my capped characters! Raiding happened some, but I’m not that super-dedicated, and I’m a tank. Those things don’t go hand in hand very well. So I look forward to tanking with my pally again. And playing my neglected hunter who’s on the other side of the Faction Divide.

    3. Collecting stuff and things! New pets? New non-combat pets? More crafting stuff? Yay!

Basically, I’m just looking for more life to the game so that I can play it with my wife and our friends, and not be retreading the same ground over and over.

  8. Yggdrasil Says:

    10 man raids=Awesome!

Prot. Warrior talent that lets me use Charge in any stance, in or out of combat=Priceless!

Improved Defensive Stance causing Enrage everytime I dodge, block, or parry=Priceless!

Fury Talent that gives me more Strength for the amount of armor I have=Awesome!

Enhancement Shamans having synergy with Elemantal Devastation, and converting Int to Attack Power= Awesome!

Druids having an OoC rez= Priceless!

    Balance Druids having more utility=Awesome!

Being able to fix the mistake I made so long ago with hairstyle choices=Priceless!

More bag slots since my mounts and pets will be spells=Priceless!

Blacksmiths being able to add sockets to items=Priceless!

Engineers and Enchanters able to sell their wares as item enhancements on the AH=Priceless

Making the corpses of my friends and enemies explode, or controlling them like a pet after they die as a Death Knight=Priceless!

These were just the things that immediately sprang to mind…

  9. weta Says:

You already some of this on record but here it goes.

    I. Shadow priests
They are nerfing the fsw sit so after all that hard work its now worth no more than what I could have gotten out of kara. That does really suck but hey it is just a game. Dispersion a PVP based talent for my 51 pt talent? That does really suck but hey it is just a game. Mana replenishment, why bring a shadow priest now when a retadin or sv hunter can do the same and put out more dps? That does really suck but hey it is just a game.
Actually Im pretty excited about most of the changes, if the worst I have is 3 things like that then it’s not to bad :)

    II. Fire Mage
Here’s where Im actually kinda concerned, they took the fire spec and in trying to buff the dps absolutely trash the mana conservation. For some ungodly reason blizzard seems to want us to use our pyro blast now on a regular basis, so we get free insta casts. Pyroblast has always been a poor dpm spell so hopefully thats been adjusted or this spec is going to be strictly pvp worthy.

    III. Hunters – BM
Im kinda tweaked that they buffed/nerfed aspect of the viper, fortunately Im only in that for part of the fights right now. The new pet’s rock, though they keep nerfing them which wasnt exactly un-expected. Having a talent tree for a pet is pretty nifty, and having more than 3 pets is exciting. Getting to tame some of the new pets will just make sense, like the raptors in un’goro crater. Some pet’s are just flat out new, can you say rhino for busting up turtle battles in av ?

Overall Im pretty excited about the changes, though I will say this. Blizzard based most of their changes/nerfs on the fact that we are all raiding in T6 gear. Why do I get the feeling that the rest of us will be swapping out epics for greens early on … 10 Man progression …. sweet …. though I think with the release of wotlk a good many of the people who are missing will be back so 25 man will be easier. Death knight .. meh .. I don’t really enjoy melee classes but I may give it a try and see if I change my mind

  10. Euripedes Says:

I am deeply excited for the new content. So sue me, I’ve watched all the spoiler clips. Never have I seen such bad ass awesome in WoW. Phasing technology is the best thing to ever happen to this game.

I am truly excited about the synergy between frost mages and DK’s – for the absolutely ruinous amount of hurt the two can unleash in PvP.

I am looking forward to PvP as frost in general. There will be pain, dispensed liberally by yours truly.

I’ve already done all the DK starter stuff (thrice), so no need to do that on live.

I am excited about Blizzard’s intentions towards the mage class. They want to get away from eternally spamming the exact same spell over and over again. They want for all DPS classes to use multiple abilities.

Shaman turned out fantastic with the addition of Lava Burst, hopefully they manage to pull that off with mages.

As it stands, all three trees are close to being excellent. Not quite there yet, but with a little work, mages will be good to go.

Providing the class developers remember to make sure we scale this time XD

  11. Aericha Says:

Priest [my One True Class, although druid and shaman are close; my bear tank (63 and rising) is a joy] changes please me more than they irk me.

I am very sad that priest racial spells are going the way of the faction-specific class. I understand why, I endorse whole-heartedly the need to remove race-stacking (the same goal underlies the sharing of the group mana-regen ability. But the priest racial spells gave the generic “heal and hurt clergy”–so similar to D&D’s–a much-needed boost of WoW-specific lore (similar, actually, to D&D’s use of domains to customize clerics). I’ll miss it, but in the name of inclusive non-elitism I won’t petition (much) for the return of the mechanic.

As a healer and an off-spec solo-smiter, I’m excited. Discipline as a healing tree is very welcome. The un-nerfed lolwell will actually make its way into my holy spec, and the infusion of spirit into nearly all caster gear makes me gleeful. (I know Vonya has had varied experience with spirit as a priest stat, but I’m all for it and tout an Imp DS/Imp Death/Spiritual Guidance spec to take full advantage of it.) Playing chicken with the 5SR makes me happy, and the dearth of spirit on badge gear has seriously impeded that joy. I, for one, welcome our new spirit-heavy cloth overmantles.

Spellpower makes me happy, as it likely does most healers. I don’t say “all healers,” because I’m sure there are some who feel healing and damage should be separated. To them I say, “I don’t have as much bag space for gear, or alts to grind for me, as you must.”

And in non-priest news, I am eagerly looking forward to my very own very fast rug. Seriously, if I get to keep my rug they can nerf my class into the ground and spit on its talent points. I will have a very fast rug and that will be enough.

  12. draiggoch Says:

    Everything really.

I’ve steered clear of clips and shots from the Beta-runners cos I want to enjoy all that the new shiny patch has to offer.

New quests, new 5 & 10 man instances, new lands to explore, new pets for my hunter, new recipes, new ….

    see I told you ..everything!

  13. Iratio Says:

Stacking crit chance on a Disc. spec healing priest =D
