Discipline Gear List : QFH

When you need Discipline gear Quick, Fast, and in a Hurry

Please note : this list is heavily skewed in favor of items that I can get quicky – badge gear, rep gear, tailored gear…there are plenty of alternatives for those willing to wait for drops or who don’t have the cash outlay to buy the tailored gear.

It is not an all-encompassing list of gear by any stretch of the imagination. If you know of some great alternatives to what I have here, please note them in the comments!

    I’ve been Disc since Wrath launched but I raid very little so take my comments from a heroic healer prospective. But I much prefer the Wispcloak over the Deathchill. Crit is nice for inspiriation and DA but I have 11% crit with 16% holy crit without focusing too much on crit gear. In a heroic I usually have a decent amount of DA/inspiration procs, and Rapture only works on “effective” heal so while getting a crit on a penance or flash heal is nice I often see it wasted. Also I am not a huge fan of haste which it seems you are using as one of your primary stats, so far I dont see too many places where you made a bad tradeoff but I would suggest the Sash of the Servant from Azjol-Nerub.

  2. Misamane Says:

    Okay first question! Why Spellweave Robe over the Ebonweave Robe? Is the haste that important?

    I had decided to take the Ebonweave for the extra Int,and cuz I’m favoring Stam over Spi at the moment, but I’m willing to change my mind.

    Cool. Would recommend leaning more towards crit than haste. Haste is sexy, but crit procs Divine Aegis and Inspiration, and increases Rapture regen. I try to keep my unbuffed crit comfortably above 25% before starting to stack haste.

    Easy crit items: Rod of the Fallen Monarch (wand from AzN), Sash of the Servant (belt, also from AzN), Forge Ember (trink from HoS), Cannoneers Fuselighter (trink, easy quest in Icecrown).

    Do you like bare feet? You must like bare feet… >.>

    Is this of any help?

    http://bobturkey.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/want-to-be-heroic/

    Might give you an idea or two. Depends on your rep levels and where you’ve already quested. Might be a bit low as its starting heroics, which it looks like your well past ;-)

  6. Vonya Says:

    @Paolo
    actually, after looking again and reading your comment, I agree. I’ll be trading off some of my haste for crit. Thank you very much, especially for the gear recommendations

    @Bob
    You’d be surprised how many “weird spec” best gear are blue, not purple. Beginner lists are always useful. =]

  7. Norhia Says:

    They say that Rapture is fixed in the PTR. I am the happiest little soap bubble blowing priest in the world!

  8. Misamane Says:

    What about @ Misa? ;P

  9. Starets Sayas Says:

    Thanks for the list! I’m only 76, but its going to come in handy when I finally cap. I’m bookmarking it and thats not something I do to individual blog entries very often. :)

  10. Vonya Says:

    @Misa
    Sorry, I didn’t know the answer offhand and hadn’t researched it yet.

    The reason is because a lot of the itemization on the robe you mentioned, Ebonweave, is taken up by hit rating, which is useless to a healing disc priest.

    The Ebonweave DOES have a lot more int, but the haste on the Spellweave is enough to bump it up.

    Except that my list was very high on haste, and I actually have MORE haste than I need, so I’ve been swapping. I’m currently wearing Ornate Woolen Stola to try and boost my crit (at a small drop in spellpower).

    It would be interesting to see what the stats add up to. A followup post reviewing this gear in whatever raid/instance you run would also be interesting, to get an idea of what numbers to aim for.

    What kind of weapon are you using?

  13. Vonya Says:

    @Rondo

    War Mace of Unrequited Love

  14. Regard Says:

    Keep the posts coming, I’m especially interested in making the switch to disc in the near future, however the majority of the materials available online are geared towards holy PvE.

    Spell Haste: Elitist Jerks recommends aiming for 10% for disc, how do you all feel about that? The problem I’m having with that is that they state that 20% total (10% from disc talents) is enough to reduce a Greater Heal to 2.08 sec untalented. I’m not sure how they’re arriving at that number, unless they’re making calculations based off of the talented 2.5 sec “base” cast time.

    Estimated haste levels interest me the most because of trinket availability currently in game. The egg that you mention for example, has the potential to run you up against the GCD wall depending on what additional raid buffs you have.

    As I said, please keep updating on this topic, I’m very curious to see what other priests are doing with disc.

  15. Jackbequikk Says:

    It seems like loading up on gear heavy in haste would allow your big heal speeds to be comparable to that of your classic holy healer. I’m just wondering if the trade off of Spirit/MP5 for haste/crit would be crippling in the long run. In my gear makeup I’m trying to focus, in order of importance: Haste, Spellpower, Spirit/MP5, and then Crit. Any thoughts?
