hehe I realise this post is way old but I have still managed to find it recently so for any others that may come across it im going to put my thoughts to you.

I think healing without an addon that operates such as clique reduces your efficiency. Either you have a keybinding for every single person or you have to click them. If you have to click them then an addon such as clique can turn the click into a cast with the use of control keys. If your not using an addon you would have to time your button press as far as I can see. To me that clearly without arguments says healing with such an addon is more efficient.
Obviously there are a lot of factors too many addons could slow your computer down etc etc but in a perfectly equal world that is the fact is it not.

Healing addons do not do the job for you. This is a senseless remark or joke I have seen people use. Firstly blizzard have put in measures to stop addons doing that very thing. Secondly as somebody else pointed out as far as I am concerned the choosing target is the think phase and thats what important to me at least not how hard it is to then carry out that by means of one gesture or another.

People against addons has it occured to you what a macro is in comparison? Blizzard built a system into the game to allow addons they also built a system in to allow macros. They are different but they both are for the same reason to aid the user. So you would use 100 macros but not addons :S doesn't make sense to me.

My final point now. The game difficulty is being adjusted constantly. Every new dungeon, patch etc. What is the difficulty based on? Well of course its based on us the user. So when they make a dungeon that is difficult at the time say now ICC. How many people in ICC use healing addons? and addons such as clique? I think those who don't are in the minority. If you don't think so ask around make your own mind up. But my question to you is that if indeed must people use these addons then blizz are guaging the difficulty on the people with the addons on average common sense surely. When these people are finding it the right difficulty then blizzard keep the balance there and guess what those who don't have such addons will find it harder as for how hard obviously thats another argument that I don't care to go into.

I miss you miss space goat. And your lil -pug- too. I'm further into ICC then I ever thought I'd get. My personal healing style, and abilities have gotten better than I have ever imagined. But still somehow I miss your musings on the subject.

This hasn't been updated in awhile, but I just found this site and I must say I LOVE all the articles you've made. For instance I never considered the hit to rage generation PW:Shield was causing and I've been using that pretty much every chance I got. I started a Holy Priest a few weeks ago (only my 2nd toon so far, my first was a Tank) and all the different variables that have to be considered are kinda confusing sometimes. Thx for the great work, time to go read some more....

Well, I can't believe no on has asked yet... so I will: what are your key bindings on the Nostromo? I play a fresh 80 priest, leveled in shadow, have dabbled a bit in the BGs as disc, but am ready to jump into randoms. My Nostromo is set up for shadow, and I've been using Clique + Grid for healing... but I'm finding myself running into walls and junk because the clicking is messing with mouse turning. I know, I know, I look like the noob I am. But I'd like to hear more about the other half of your kit, since the Nostromo is such a big part of your setup. Thanks!

In August of 2005 I was booted from the #2 guild on my server because, due to a patch, i was watching 6 other healers in our raid fail miserably and I told them how useless they were. Since that time I have made it a point to heal (disc priest) using only decursive and full announcements from my raid mod. I will have to say that I definatly do not need the tricked out vette or the geo metro. I can do it better and to a much finer point with only my scooter.

What I learned from that was how crucial planning is, If you are not prepared for the raid then you will need the fancy add-ons to make up for the gaps in your preparations. I review every raid I do for an hour before going regardless of how many times i have been there, ( farm status excluded). that is what makes a good healer or a good tank. and yes dps are a dime a dozen and not all that important.

As usual, I'm late to the...uh,...nvm.

Sorry to see you go, Ego. It seems like the old guard bloggers are getting caught up in the mega-boss RL or being sucked into the Maelstrom. I know I hit the wall in April, but just couldn't kick the game for good.

Now, I've found new life in the game on the Horde side and PvPing as a rogue. A ROGUE!! Anyways, good luck to you in your further adventures.
